The Janet Lillian Armstrong Memorial Scholarship

Who was Janet L. Armstrong?

Janet Lillian Armstrong was born on June 7th, 1966 in St. Louis, MO. Janet Armstrong was a strong Christian as well as an advocate of urban youth and higher education. Janet was raised in St. Louis her entire life and was a proud graduate of Sumner High School. She spent many years serving as Youth Director for The Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church and in administration for The Wellston School District. Janet always put the needs of others before her own. She used any resources she had to empower those around her. True to her resilient nature, she returned to college as a non-traditional student and at age 40 attained one of her life-long goals of receiving a college degree. She was also a proud graduate of St. Louis University. On December 31st, 2009 she transitioned from this life to the next; God called her home. Although she is not with us anymore, her spirit lives on through the lives that she touched. This scholarship was created to preserve her memory and to perpetuate her tenets of service, academic achievement, and Christian character.
